O Presidente da Confederação Portuguesa do Yoga, Jorge Veiga e Castro – H.H. Jagat Guru Amrta Súryánanda Mahá Rája, acaba de receber o Prémio Padma Shrí das mãos de Pranab Kumar Mukherjee, Presidente da República da Índia, como reconhecimento pelo seu “excepcional contributo” para a promoção do Yoga no Mundo e do Yoga como via para a Paz Mundial.

Trata-se da primeira vez que um português é condecorado com este galardão, criado em 1954. Esta alta distinção veio distinguir Jorge Veiga e Castro pelo seu papel decisivo na criação do Dia Internacional do Yoga, oficializado em Dezembro de 2014 pela ONU e comemorado desde 2001 em Portugal, a 21 de Junho.

The President of the Portuguese Yoga Confederation, Jorge Veiga e Castro – H.H. Jagat Guru Amrta Súryánanda Mahá Rája, has just recieved the Padma Shrí Award from the hands of Pranab Kumar Mukherjee, the President of India, as recognition for his “exceptional contribution” to the promotion of Yoga in the World and of Yoga as a way to World Peace.

It is the first time that a portuguese is decorated with this award, created in 1954. This high distinction praises Jorge Veiga e Castro for his decisive role on the creation of the International Day of Yoga, made oficial in December 2014 at the UN and commemorated since 2001 in Portugal, June 21st.
